After crossing the plains, Lewis ventured off to explore the river’s headwaters, while the rest of the team faced a tense encounter with the Blackfeet warriors—fortunately, no harm was done. The beige color symbolizes the explorers’ efforts to build trust with the Native tribes they encountered. It reflects a moment of calm before the challenges of the Rocky Mountains, a reminder that even in the face of uncertainty, forging connections and resilience lead the way.
